Benefits of Porcelain Dental Veneers
Because of the numerous advantages of porcelain dental veneers, many patients in San Mateo, Palo Alto, and surrounding areas contact our dental spa for veneers. Veneers are, in many ways, the perfect treatment for a smile transformation. They completely conceal flaws, including chips, cracks, discoloration, and misalignment. Veneers are made of durable, translucent porcelain that looks amazingly natural. Veneers cover crooked teeth without the time commitment of Invisalign® or traditional orthodontic treatment. And, since dental veneers are custom-crafted, no two smiles with veneers are alike.
Placement of Porcelain Dental Veneers
The placement process for veneers depends on whether a patient chooses traditional veneers or prepless veneers. Dr. Barthman places both types of porcelain dental veneers at our office in Redwood city.
Conventional Dental Veneers Placement
Typically, three appointments are necessary to place conventional porcelain dental veneers. During the first visit, you will discuss your diagnosis with Dr. Barthman and devise a treatment plan. Once you are comfortable with your treatment plan, you will come in for your second appointment, at which time Dr. Barthman will prepare your teeth for dental veneers. To prepare your teeth, Dr. Barthman removes a small amount of your natural teeth to accommodate the thin dental veneers. Next, she takes an impression of your teeth, which she sends to the dental lab that will custom-craft your veneers. Dr. Barthman then places temporary veneers, which you will wear until the permanent version is ready (usually about two weeks), at which time you will return to our office to have your veneers placed. During this third and final appointment, Dr. Barthman bonds the veneers firmly to the teeth for a natural, comfortable fit and appearance. Many patients who have veneers placed only on their top or bottom teeth choose to polish their new smile with teeth whitening.
Prepless Veneers
Placing prepless veneers has the added benefit of not requiring reduction of the natural tooth. It therefore appeals to patients who are anxious about the placement of conventional veneers. To learn more about whether you may benefit from prepless porcelain dental veneers, contact our office.
Dr. Jean Barthman provides phenomenal smile makeovers with porcelain dental veneers, similar to LUMINEERS®. If you live in San Mateo, Palo Alto, or a nearby area, you can expect top-notch care by Dr. Barthman and her team.
